With the accelerating process of China's urbanization, the urban spatial structure has been gradually displaying diversity and complexity, the spatial elements such as the super high-rise buildings, the pedestrian tunnels, the viaduct bridges, the gardens in the air, the subways, the roof squares, the building atriums and the indoor pedestrian streets etc have been increasingly appearing in the urban life and the urban space is running towards the three-dimensional and complicated development, which has enhanced the view of the people and has made the previously neglected architectural roofing draw more and more attention of the people. From the level of the city, the exterior of the architectural roof is even more important than the facade since it is not only the"fifth facade"of the individual buildings but also the elementary components to compose the texture of the city in a certain area, exercising tremendous influence on the urban spatial patterns.As the external reflection of the bird's-eye view of the integral city, the fifth facade of the urban buildings is the three-dimensional exhibition of the structural patterns in the urban planning, one of the important carriers of the urban culture and geological features, and the hot research topic of great importance on the ecological and energy-saving technologies of the city. Its treatment approaches, color relations and the rules of pattern combination etc boast relatively independent value of research.
