Transformer is the important element in power system and the connection part in major power line network, its role is to transform voltage and to collect and distribute electric energy. Whether the transformer can run normally be related to the stability and safety of electric system, therefore it is great significant to monitoring and protect the transformer. Once transformer having damaged, it is very difficulty and long time for maintenance to cause great losses; Moreover, excising transformer is causing the big or small perturbation to the electrical power system after fault suddenly. Therefore, the relay-protection has been required very high.Computer monitor technology make use of modern electronic technology, communication technology, computer and network technology to monitoring, control, measures and transfer electrical equipment in distribution substation. Thereby, it can either improve power quality and service level or reduce operating cost. The power supply is very secure, reliable, convenient, flexible and economical. Therefore, distribution management is more effective.This paper models on microcomputer protection devices to transformer of 6kV first stop distribution room in QINGDAO, and determining hardware and software components of computer security device. An accurate trip-setting is given after the reference to a large number of data on microcomputer protection. There are current quick-breaking protection and over current protection for the transformer fault, in addition to the gas and oil temperature etc. switching protection. Communication is high-speed and reliable between microcomputer protection device and the background. To sum up, it has been improved and developed markedly for the transformer on the overall protection performance.The result shows that microcomputer protection device has been significant development on rules of a minor fault sensitivity, CT saturation, communication, fault, electromagnetic compatibility, configuration and applications. Test and practical operation show that the transformer protection device achieves a high level on design and application.
