Metal Rubber sealing technology research is an important direction in the field of metal rubber. As the Metal Rubber seals have features like inclusive working temperature, high carrying capacity, corrosion resistance, long life-time and anti-aging, high reliability, designable, etc, so they can be used as seal. MR seals also have other good sealing performance that can not be matched in the aerospace, national defense and other special areas. This paper bases on MR seals in aerospace application, through experiments and theoretical studies, reveals the metal sealing mechanism of rubber sealing technology, and does finite element simulation on MR sealing system.We make MR samples of different relative density on account of demand to create a sealed mechanical model, use special equipment to do experimental study on samples, analyze the result, obtain elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio in different directions, we also do deep analysis on the influence that the maximum initial strain put on the mechanical properties of MR, make foundation to MR seal model's creation.Base on the mechanical properties of Metal Rubber, we establish the contact model of MR seal system through a reasonable simplification, analyze the contact pressure distribution, and do a simple assumption on contact pressure distribution, the deduce the maximum contact stress formula; we analyze the seal system whether there is medium to research the impact that medium pressure on seal properties; base on the mechanical model, we analyze sealing mechanism of MR, obtain leakage rate model of the seal system, provide a theoretical basis for the application of MR seals.We simplify the samples equivalently, establish a three-dimensional model of the seal system, use ANSYS to mesh and do finite element analysis on the three-dimensional model, obtain the stress distribution through analysis of FEM results, confirm the hypothesis on stress distribution; through comparing the FEM results and the contact model of seal system, we verify validity of the contact model, and analyze the reason for discrepancy between simulation results and theoretical result.The content of this thesis is part of the project that supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Project No.:50705016)...
