Water-towers are common high-rise structures in industrial and civil buildings, which used to water's reserve and distribution. Its structure seismic safety related not only to the nearby structures'safety, but also to the function of urban earthquake dis-aster mitigation lifeline. But over the years the researches of water-tower structure in the earthquake are only some assumptions and calculation theories, and there hardly had any vibration model experiments. there are also few this aspect researches in the foreign literatures. Therefore, the seismic performance of water-tower research and analysis has vital significance. This paper used ANSYS to build a water-tower's model, and conduct modal fre-quency analysis, response spectrum analysis and dynamic time-history analysis. Then research the dynamic response characteristics of the reinforced concrete towers in earthquake effect. The calculation results showed that the dynamic process analysis results generally greater than spectrum analysis results. It should according to different sites, different structure forms, and statistics analysis of response spectrum value and eigenperiod in different seismic waves. In order to study the influence of vertical earthquake and the following second effect on water towers,it still take nonlinear dynamic time-history analysis by AN-SYS,and the calculation results show that after consider P-Δeffect,the dynamic response under the combined actions of vertical and horizontal vibration obviously greater than it under the actions of horizontal seismic alone. Consequently, more at-tention should be paid on the seismic design.
