In our country's industry construction, the reinforced concrete chimney is one of essential important engineering projects. With the development of modern industry, the enhancement of construction technique, and the enhancement of the environmental pollution requestments, the reinforced concrete chimney is getting more and more and gradually higher, which causes the chimney to turn the very big engineering project. Therefore, it is completely necessary to make the further discussion of the chimney's earthquake resistance performance, especially of the super high-rise reinforced concrete chimney's seismic response. The seismic time-history response of a reinforced concrete chimney with the height of 180m has been analyzed in this paper. Horizontal seismic time-history response of this chimney is obtained, and the earthquake response is contrastively analyzed considering temperature's effect and without considering it. The result indicates that the influence of temperature is related to seismic frequency spectrum characteristic. The influence on the extreme values of seismic response is different when the different earthquake wave is input. However, from the overall tendency, the time-history response curves of the chimney are approximately close to the case which doesn't consider temperature. To further understand the chimney's failure mechanism under earthquake, the geometrical nonlinear seismic response of chimney is also analysed in this paper and seismic response is contrastively analysed considering vertical earthquake's influence and without considering it. The result indicates that the horizontal seismic motion has decisive effect on the structure's earthquake response, but the influence of the vertical seismic motion is noticeable, so its adverse effect should be considered.
