The Systemic Strategies Research On The Protecting And Organic Renewal Of Historic Residential Area In Old Beijing

The historic area of Old Beijing has a long-standing history and solid cultural accumulation. The historic residential area and its traditional life style are especially one of the most essential parts of Beijing's historic heritages. The historic residential area not only is the background of historic and cultural relic, but also contains various functions and large population. Therefore, the renewal of the historic residential area is a significant issue to the development of society and economics.This paper was based on the research of the Organic renewal theory. It traced the evolution of Old Beijing since 1949, summarized the left over problems and opportunities of the historic area. It gathered the new developments of protecting and renewal method in the field of historic area. And also, it revealed the concrete problems in the historic residential area, through the immense site investigate and resident survey to the north of XiSi and the White Pagoda Temple area. Based on the work above, this paper suggest to set up a systemic structure of the renewal strategies, which could Co-ordinate the complex problem in historic area.To Interpret the systemic strategies better, we put it into practice in the north of XiSi and the White Pagoda Temple area.
