Preliminary Studies On Pagoda Forest (Talin) Of The Tanzhe Buddhist Temple In Beijing

Pagoda forest(Talin),as a group of pagodas of eminent monks.The more a long history of the temple,the greater the number of pagodas.Thus it can be regarded as the witness to the development of Buddhist temples.Pagoda forest of Tanzhe Temple had been one of the largest and best preserved pagoda forest in Beijing region after the Jin,Yuan,Ming and Qing four generations,most pagodas here use of brick,stone materials,mostly wood-like structure,therefore,to further explore the wooden structure in the context of the evolution of the Beijing area becomes possible.This paper selects pagoda forest of Tanzhe Temple for the study,through the analysis of the overall layout,modeling,local details,and many other artistic and technical achievements,hoping to gradually compensate for the lack of research in Pagoda forest,making its historical value,artistic value,cultural values are fully reflected,and the formation of a consensus,so as to promote the construction of the humanities Beijing,and to inject new positive energy into the protection and development of the ancient capital of Beijing.This paper summarizes the relevant research literature on pagoda and pagoda forest at home and abroad,establishes the relevant databases through field research,organize and catalogue information,mapping analysis,conducts case studies and systematic exposition on pagoda forest of Tanzhe Temple.This paper is divided into four parts: first,this paper puts forward the clear definition of pagoda forest and gives a brief introduction to the construction history and the preservation of the status of pagoda forest of Tanzhe Temple;second,this paper states the site selection and layout of pagoda forest of Tanzhe Temple from an overall point of view,combined with traditional Chinese feng shui theory system and explores the influence of sectarian and burial system on pagoda forest layout;third,this paper classified interprets the single pagoda of Tanzhe temple pagoda forest,select a typical case in-depth study.This paper divides pagoda into five categories according to its shape and concludes the general characteristics of each pagoda by comparative analysis;fourth,this paper compares Tanzhe Temple pagoda forest with other pagoda forest in Beijing by chronological research,and explores the relationship of different pagoda forest in same period with an aim to clarify the uniqueness of pagoda forest of Tanzhe Temple and the characteristics of pagoda forest in Beijing.
