Study On The Impacts Of Mass Media On The Architectural Design Of Urban Residential Buildings

As a new means of information communication of mankind, mass media has flooded in every corner of our lives. In a sense, the media maybe has an incredible power to change the people's life, especially in the recent years, China's mass media has been developing extremely rapidly, and its coverage already across the country of various regions, had a profound impact on our social politic, economy, culture and people's life.On the basis of previous studies, the author from the perspective of architecture, combined with the present academic researches, discussed the influence of mass media on the development process of our architectural design of residential buildings. In order to explain the problems in detail, this article divides our domestic residential buildings construction into residential area planning and design, residential buildings construction dwelling size and graphic design of residential buildings three aspects to discuss separately.The impact of mass media on society is bound to reflect people's thinking, aesthetic, and process of the formation and development of sense to a great extent, thus result in the dual positive and negative effects on the specific design.The positive effect of mass media is mainly manifested that a lot of positive, scientific and rational information communications provide a convenient, faster and wider condition and channel of receiving information for the comprehensive development of designer; provide a channel of releasing information for different walks of life to help government agencies understand their needs, formulate and promulgate the macro-control policies related with the residential building construction and guide this industry to develop healthily and benefit the country's overall construction. Meanwhile, it helps designers and developers to grasp the market dynamics and make adjustments for the more suitable design ideas for public demand; the good direction of public opinions and propaganda effects of mass media greatly contributed to spread the outstanding architectural designs of residential building in the whole society, so that their social value can be maximized.The negative effect of mass media is mainly manifested that there are partially negative even false information in the reports of mass media, immoral and illegal use of mass media, misleading the public aesthetic orientation, and thus disrupt the healthy development of our architectural design of residential buildings; wealthy information resources in mass media cause the prevalence of "take-ism" and impeding the development of innovative architectural design.In real life, the positive factors and negative factors of mass media for residential architectural design are often appeared simultaneously, but the nature of its impact does not depend on the form of mass media, the key point is whether the spread content or the way to guide the audience properly.With the rapidly growing science and technology, fast developing economy and society, the impact of mass media on the residential architectural design will be going on and constantly deepen, we can not evade or bypass this objective fact. In order to achieve a good social effect on residential architectural design in the new era, we must make full use of favorable factors and give play to the mass media and resist and eliminate its negative impact. As a result, building designers in the new era should continuously improve their qualities, improve their ability of appreciation and identification, at the same time, we should also try to take the initiative of publicizing, to guide and standardize the development of mass media and make it an effective tool for promoting the development of residential buildings design.
