Nowadays, our country is developing strongly EHV and UHV transmission line. With the economic development and people's increasing environment awareness, the electromagnetic environmental problem caused by power transmission is paid more and more attention. At the same time, as the voltage rating turn into UHV level, electromagnetic environment has become the critical factor which determines the power transmission line's structure and the constructing cost. This paper focuses on the electromagnetic environmental problem of HVAC and HVDC transmission lines. The electromagnetic parameter of power transmission line include: electrical field, magnetic field, radio interference (RI) and audible noise (AN). This paper introduces theoretical analytical calculation method and their standards for each parameter. Based on the Microsoft Visual C++, simulation software of electromagnetic environment has been explored by using C++ and matlab language. Correctness of the programs had been confirmed by series of examples of HVAC and HVDC through comparing with authority papers. Using this software, this paper makes detail research on the main affected factors. Effect regularity with different wires height, diameter, multiple conductor number, divided spacing and different arrangement of conductors is analyzed. Some control methods are proposed. Appropriate arrangement of conductors and increasing height is an efficient path to reducing electric field; increasing multiple conductor number and cross section of conductor can reduce RI and AN. Comprehending every factor, choosing appropriate parameters of conductor and tower.
