Research About The Features Of Signage System On The Xi'an Commercial Street

During the globalization of economy and the rapid development of urban construction, the phenomenon, which urban characteristics of regional culture lose character, are almost unstoppable to spread before us. At present, in the boom in the country construction of commercial development, there are also the inevitable problems, such as convergence, rent seeking and Blindness, especially for the design of the environmental signage system, the problem about the lack of features is always neglected by designer. Therefore, there is very necessary for researching the features of the environmental signage system on the urban commercial street. The dissertation discusses mainly the following questions:How to establish the systematic steps for researching the features of the urban environmental signage; How to design the unique environmental signage system on the urban commercial street; How to express the features of environmental signage on the urban commercial street by visual communication, thus the highlights for the urban area features, even the Urban geographical features.Bases on the background of assimilation urban appearance, we make the urban zone as the research scope and the environmental signage system on the urban commercial street as the research object. According to urban areas, history, culture, economy, industries and development features, we analysis, research and orientate the different area features, in order to establish the framework how to design the environmental signage system on the urban commercial street. We finally summarize the methodology by visual communication, how to reflect the features of the environmental signage on the urban commercial street, in order to improve the environment of Urban commercial district and to provide the new ideas and reference for another urban how to design the signage system.The dissertation is included the theory and the methodology around urban planning & design, science of visual communication, landscape ecology, behaviouristics, etc. We introduce the Perspective and the methodology of ekistics about the Local Culture into the field of visual communication, in order to establish the framework and the methodology for the design of the environmental signage system on the urban commercial street. We make "Great Tang All Day Mall" and "West Street" as our research object, to discuss the main problem, and to summarize the procedure about planning and design and the methodology about visual communication for the environmental signage system on the urban commercial street.
