In this thesis, three-dimensional hydroelastic theory is used to simulate the coupling interaction between waves and floating elastic plate in frequency domain, the combined BEM-FEM methods based on modal superposition are used. The interaction between waves and floating elastic plate is a coupling problem, the hydro-dynamic forces and the structural dynamics can't be calculated independently. For elastic structures, the motions include not only rigid motion but also elastic deformation. And the elastic deformation can't be ignored for some cases such as elastic plate. In this paper, numerical methods are based on the modal superposition. The hydrodynamic forces are obtained by WAFDUT Analysis Software based on boundary element method. To describe the motion of elastic plate the Mindlin's plate theory is adopted based on finite element method. In order to validate the accuracy and effective of this numerical model, the interaction between the regular wave and a rectangular elastic plate is considered. Computational results show a good agreement with published experimental data and other numerical data. By the application of this numerical method, the wave interactions with an elastic rectangular plate are analyzed by different boundary conditions and sea state conditions. In order to analyze the convergence properties, a circular elastic plate is also calculated by this numerical method.
