Topology analysis of power grid based on power GIS platform, which can be visually integrated with other power information system and decision-making system, can visually display the grid topology, and get the device state information quickly, and many types of grid analysis can be displayed more vividly with it. As a result, the topology analysis of power grid based on power GIS platform has received more and more attention. Advanced topology analysis has greatly enhanced the efficiency of power grid operation staff, and ensured economic and stable operation of the grid.The traditional researches on the power grid topology analysis focus on topology analysis algorithm and the application of topology analysis. But without the GIS technology support, power grid topology analysis showed that non-intuitive and poor interactive, which greatly restricts the power grid topology analysis applications. In recent years, the rapid development of GIS applications in the power industry points out a new research direction of the power grid topology analysis. As the topology analysis model based on common GIS platform adopts a common GIS platform data storage mode, resulting in its data model has poor compatibility with other power information systems, and its integration with the other power information systems is not well. This paper proposes a new topological model, which is not based on any common GIS platform, but as a subsystem of GIS platform. Compared to the common GIS platform, the power GIS platform not only concerns about the spatial data processing, but also pays more attention to the connection of power devices and the representation of power grid topology. So that the storage faced power industry of this model can be more detailed description of power grid topological relationship. This paper defined the topology analysis model in two aspects of the data storage and the topological algorithm, and it designed and realized a topology analysis subsystem for the power GIS platform based on the definition of topological analysis model, which includes some commonly used power grid topology analysis functions, such as the entire grid connectivity analysis, the two connectivity analysis, the power off analysis. The definition of the model has guiding significance for the design of the power GIS platform.
