With the development of national economy and the improvement of people's living standers, the city life waste increases greatly. Research and development in disposal and utilization technology of municipal solid waste can not only solve the pollution environment problem, but also realize resource recycle and energy utilization. Incineration is one of the most effective methods in disposing city life waste.In incinerator, the incineration processes include interaction airflow controls, waste feeding control and refuse incinerator control etc. In the above process, the optimization of ratio between air and fuel is the key factors to ensure waste burning completely and reducing pollution. Because of the complexity in the variety of components of waste and the nonlinear, time-varying and uncertainties in incinerator burning waste-to-energy plant, it requires the control system be well designed.This paper introduces the principals and control technologies of incineration processes. According to the characteristics and requirements of incineration processes, Xinhua XDC-800 distributed control system is used to develop the control system for a waste-to-energy plant in Qinghuandao, Heibei province. The system has advanced and open computer network, reliable hardware, friendly interface and overall supervision in waste-to-energy plant. The structure and function of the distributed control system was designed. Hardware configuration was also made. Application software was configured for both the controllers and the operator stations. The distributed control system developed was put into operation in the field. It meets the requirements and brings significant economic and social benefits.
