The aspects being discussed majorly is traditional interpretation and regional cultural expression in landscape design field. The traditional information images symbols which stand for abundant traditional culture are the significant carriers for cultural transmission and important elements of regional cultural expression.The core of landscape design is to inherit and overstep traditional culture. The essence is creation. The purpose of cultural regression is to design more oriented and ascensive. The landscape designers should seize the internal civilization and characteristics exquisitely and use the visual symbols which is the significant carriers for culture transmission in the design works.With the rapid development of science technology and emerging art trend, people's thinking and aesthetic psychology keep growing. New materials and application of new technology make these icons of symbols show more diverse content. The diversified landscape design style makes people have a new understanding of the value the traditional culture icon.On the basis of reference to the senior scholars' semiotics, as a starting point to the expression of visual symbols of traditional culture in Chinese classical gardens, the essay analyzes and discusses the meaning of symbols in contemporary landscape design. It pointed out that the roles which the visual symbols of Chinese traditional culture played in the process of conveying emotion and also explored the extraction process of visual symbols, types, and performance practices and forms.Based on the symbolic theory, the article studied the relationship between visual symbols of classical garden and contemporary landscape design, explored and summarized a set of method how visual symbols of classical garden showed and applied in contemporary landscape design. Also, it is hopeful that the means could provide a useful reference for the contemporary landscape design of China. |
