A Pilot Study On Parametric Design On Architecture Form

Digital technology in the building field has been rapidly developed since 21st century, setting off a worldwide application wave one after another, and the relationship between design and construction could be re-integrated based on digital technology, we strongly feel the impact of which brings. The decades of rapid development, especially in information technology and Internet, has digitalized digital architectural design. The flood of information flows into the construction industry with a huge accumulation of energy, simmering and waiting for a larger wave.Based on digital technology, parametric technology is a dynamic operation aided design platform by establishing a relationship between factors to adjust and control. When architects design with parametric technology, the change which brings is not only the look of buildings, but also the construction, design method and design theory etc. Facing the era when theories and tools have been developed, architectural form and space have begun to flow toward the more fuzzy and complex direction. I have to ask, was our concept changing building, or the form building was changing our aesthetic standard?In this new era, architects are facing the process of development and perfection of parametric technology. In this revolution, there are huge challenges but also great opportunities, including more unpredictable possibilities. In Building field, there are many problems unresolved, and parametric design brings new problems. What's the relationship between tools and ideas? Do the ideas determine the tools or the tools affect architects' ideas? Do the new forms parametric design brings mean the proliferation of luxuriance, or the birth of a new style?This paper first expounds important factors-the emergence theory from the parametric technology's background and concept, then classifies and discusses the changes of architectural space and form with a popular algorithm based on parametric technology. This paper also discusses the future of parametric technology through the analysis which has been obtained from the architects and who study parametric technology. Finally, we discuss the drawbacks in terms of architectural form in parametric design, and demand of higher levels. This paper ends with a design of the writer.
