Study On Configuration And Type-selecting Of Pedestrian Crossing Facilities

China' Urban Transport is mixed transport. Pedestrian is a disadvantaged group in the mixed transport. They are easily injured in traffic accidents.Pedestrian crossing facilities can distribute the right of way. The right pedestrian crossing facilities and appropriate location can help to make pedestrians safe, decrease traffic accident, improve road service level. Configuration and type-selecting of the pedestrian crossing facilities means select right location and appropriate type. When pedestrians need crossing, the distance to facility should be shorter than pedestrian's extreme sense of distance. While selecting type, make sure the type can satisfy the need of crossing, and the type will not distribute the vehicle seriously. On the principle of safe, convenient and efficient, this thesis studies the configuration and type-selecting of the pedestrian crossing facilities.1)This thesis comprehensively analyses the service capability, the problems of pedestrian crossing facilities, and study the reason of low utilization.2)Analyze the vehicle and the pedestrian characteristic. The vehicle flow characteristic contains volume, speed, density and headways. The pedestrian flow characteristic contains speed, space need, extreme sense of waiting time, and extreme sense of distance. All these studies are the base of studying configuration and type-selecting.3) Summarize the set criteria of pedestrian crossing facilities, combining with the investigation of pedestrian characteristic and traffic flow characteristic, quantify the criteria in different grand road. On the principle of economic and efficient, the first sequence is plain facilities and then considering the stereoscopic facilities. Considering the disturbing of plain facilities to vehicle, while choosing the type, should consider the distance between the adjacent facilities. In order to control pedestrians'walking distance shorter than extreme sense of distance, this paper set the location-choosing model.4) Give an example to explain this idea of configuration and type-selecting of the pedestrian crossing facilities.
