Cam mechanisms is an important control and drive mechanism in engineering, which can be used to realize the mechanization and automation. It is widely used in the working machines which running in the light industry, textile, food, medicine, printing, standard parts manufacturing, transportation and other areas. For the cylindrical groove-cam with translating roller follower, the dissertation compiled NC machining program of cylindrical cam profile machined with unequal diameter method, which based on tool-position control method of double envelope principle, and actually machined a cylindrical cam specimen on the four-axis simultaneous machining centers.Cylindrical Cam profile is a complex space surface, curved surface data can not be measured by ordinary instruments. 3D-coordinate measurement system as an comprehensive measuring system which integrated multidisciplinary technologies, with a large measuring space, high precision, versatility, high efficiency, strong flexibility and one-time positioning characteristics, is one of the most effective methods of obtainning the surface coordinate data.In this paper, MATLAB mathematical tool is used to calculate Cylindrical Cam profile normal theory error, and derived that theoretical error and the actual measurement error has the same changing trend by compared with the actual measurement error. Meanwhile, the application of MATLAB mathematical tools drawn cutter radius differenceΔr = 4.53mm &Δr = 1.515mm normal error curve, which analysed the deviation of the contact line and the errors of cylindrical cam profile machined with unequal diameter method caused byΔr .
