Research On Improvement Of Cable Testing Equipment

Cables are widely used in modern engineering. Phenomenan such as fatigue, abrasion, and breakage often happens during the operation of cables and cause engineering accidents consequently. In order to ensure the safety, reliability, and high efficiency of cable, a scientific and reasonable cable testing equipment has been used in cable testing, which has important significance and practical value in inspecting cable status such as breakage, abrasion, iMPact resistance, load-bearing capacity, and safety coefficient.According to the object and requirement of the subject, a new generation of cable testing equipment has been developed by the research on the limitation of existing cable testing equipment.Firstly, the structure of the existing equipment has been introduced and the new technical objectives has been proposed. The improved device of flywheel and reel has been calculated and the power requirement of the system has been ensured. Secondly, cable tension response characteristics and the force condition of iMPacting components has been analyzed with dynamic finite element analysis software LS-DYNA, and the alteration of material used in iMPacting component has been conducted. Thirdly, sixteen simulation researches on the thrust component has been conducts with static finite element analysis software ANSYS, and the improved structure has been attained. Finally, the phenomenon of abrasion in horizontal moving components has been analyzed, and a effective method of abrasion reduction has been proposed. Wear resistance of the horizontal moving component has been improved by the evaluates and analyzes of experiments and coMParison with theoretic analyses.The improvement design of the new generation of cable testing equipment has been completed by above research and analysis results. The new generation of cable testing equipment has great universality and meet the official criterion, which enhances the quality of cable products.
