Permanent magnet synchronous motor is widely used in the vehicle drive domain, but the air-gap magnetic field of the motor is controlled by d-axis current id, by this way, air-gap magnetic regulation range is very limited and requirement of widely regulating speed of vehicle drive system is difficult to suffice. At present common permanent magnet synchronous motor is used in most pure electric vehicles in China. There are many severe problems, for example, speed range is not so wide, and temperature rise is too high at high speed. Synchronous machines with the field winding make it easy to control the air-gap magnetic flux. But the copper loss of the field winding becomes large at the rated load. Hybrid excitation synchronous motor, which widely causing concern of scholars at home and abroad, particularly Consequent Pole Permanent Machine described in this article(CPPM: Consequent Pole Permanent Machine). Magnet-field regulation of CPPM synchronous motor is just to regulate magnet-field of iron pole, which is realized through excitation current changing in excitation winding. Main merits of CPPM just:â‘ brushless(no maintenance),â‘¡exiting capability needed is very small(high efficiency),â‘¢easy to realize magnet-field control, and so on.In this paper, CPPM synchronous motor testing prototype is studied. At the first,the characteristics and research status of permanent magnet synchronous motor and hybrid excitation synchronous motor in electric vehicle are analyzed; electromagnetic design of CPPM synchronous motor testing prototype in electric vehicle is present, and with the fundamental, two dimension and three dimension finite elements magnetic field and characteristic analysis of testing prototype motor are done; the d-axis inductance Lad and q-axis inductance Laq of CPPM testing prototype are computed by means of analysis and FEM; At the last part tri-production and experiment analysis result of CPPM testing prototype are reported; the encoder used to detect rotor position is fixed and precise regulation is done. From the experiment result the testing prototype completely meets design requirement.
