Hybrid excitation technology makes reasonable combination of permanent magnet excitation and electro-magnetic excitation.The flux produced by permanent magnet is regulated by regulating the electro-magnetomotive.Hybrid excitation synchronous machines with magnetic shunting rotor possess the superiority of wide high-efficiency operating range and sinusoidal back-EMF and the problem of complicated rotor structure and large rotor eddy-current loss.Two novel topologies of HESM with one-direction built-in field windings and HESM with dual-direction built-in field windings are firstly proposed and analyzed based on the principle of magnetic shunt.The electromagnetic characteristics of three different topologies of HESM are compared,including the field distribution,output torque characteristics and flux regulation capability.The d-axis and q-axis inductance,saliency ratio and characteristic current of the HESM with dual-direction built-in field windings are analyzed with finite element analysis.Influences of the introduction of magnetic shunt structure on armature reaction are analyzed.The influence of the change of the field current and characteristic current on the field weakening characteristic of the HESM is analyzed.The combined rotor by SMC material and #10 steel is proposed to reduce the rotor loss.The effect of magnet block way on the magnet eddy current loss is analyzed.The influence of material change on output performance under motoring operation is analyzed.The influence of SMC material thickness on stator and rotor loss is analyzed.The combined rotor strength is analyzed.The characteristics of different protective sleeves are analyzed.Carbon fiber is utilized to strengthen the rotor and the rotor strength is verified by finite element method.100kW HESM with magnetic shunt rotor are developed,and test rig is established.The influence of magnetic shunt structure on output performance under generating and motoring operation is verified.The effect of flux weakening control with excitation current and d-axis current on motoring operation is analyzed.
