At the present time, about fifty families eighty classes were applied in shanghai,among these families, Rosaceae, Caprifoliaceae, Celastraceae, Liliaceae, Iridaceae and Poaceae plants were be in the majority.The results followed, three kinds of problems were found, and one aspect was introduction and domestication. Domesticated level was backward, scientific research and production technical professionals were lack. Another aspect was design and construction, landscape architect does not acquaint with growth habit of some plants, it turn out that final landscape was deviated from expectation effect. Plant builders had no acquaintance with the features of new kinds; as a result, in the progress of planting, they were unable to grasp the requirement of design effect and construction. The third was plant maintenance and management, these people were lack of professional knowledge and unable to grasp interrelated skills and so these new plants did not take out the best seasonal phenomena. Losing control of new in the process of growth varieties in season, results lead to new varieties appears to be growing bad, growth rigid or configuration module crazy, cannot reflect the best season in overall landscape.Some measures were put forward to solve the problem of planning of trees and shrubs. The first was to increase kinds of plant, to meet the needs of of landscape and ecology. For example, to pay attention to flowering shrubs and trees, to appropriate allocation, to foresee plant growing, to strengthen management, to construct Green net. The second was to make plant arrangement rich, one aspect was building new city greenings, and another was to rebuild key area greenings. The third was improving the legal system. Introduction and domestication plans were able to be established.These suggestion were directive significance and real value to the garden design in shanghai and East China.
