In 2006, the Ministry of Construction launched the "Chinese Energy Efficiency Technology Policy", promoting the use of exterior insulation technology. After several years, this kind of technology is found some problems existing, however, most of which are the durability and safety issues. These problems would make it even harder use in high buildings and in harsh climate areas. On the contrast, the internal-insulation technology can deal with these kinds of situations well for the dry-operation characteristics. Thanks to the priorities, the internal insulation technology can give full play to the role of thermal insulation as well as have the advantage of easy construction and low cost, which make it suitable for promotion.Based on surveys, the purpose of this study is to research the adaptability of internal insulation technology in hot-summer & cold-winter climatic zone by analyzing and solving the main problems of this technology. Our main contents include:(1) Analyzing 3 kind of thermal insulation technology from the view of advantages and disadvantages based on the technological development world widely. In this section, our work is focus on applicability of internal insulation in summer and cold winter region; (2) From the viewpoint of structure, we categorize wall internal insulation into 4 kind and analyze structural characteristics and typical applications of various types, additionally; (3) Summarizing the commonly used thermal insulation material and factors which affect the insulation performance; (4) Taking Hangzhou as an example, we optimize thickness of insulation for different insulation systems with life-cycle cost method (LCCA); (5) For the possible existence of condensation problem in the cold bridge, we chose 3 cities in hot summer & Cold Winter Zone to calculate and analyze the validation of the insulation system in this kind of zone.
