The experience and operational capacity of dealing with emergencies of power system are very important for dispatchers to maintain power system safely and stably. Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) plays an important role in training dispatchers to improve their experience and operational capacity. The traditional DTS usually aims at simulating the static characteristics of power system, which is suitable for simulating the power network without serious stability problem. Some DTS maybe simulate a part of dynamic characteristics of power system, but because of the disadvantage of simulation method and the constraints of hardware and software, the demand for full dynamic time domain simulation can't be met. Therefore it is necessary and significant to apply electromechanical transient and full dynamic simulation technique to DTS in order to upgrade dynamic simulation ability of DTS, which is helpful for dispatchers to master the whole dynamic characteristics of power system and improve their ability of dealing with emergencies.In order to overcome the disadvantages of traditional DTS, an advanced Power System Dynamic Training and Simulating System (PSASP/DTS) is studied and developed on the basis of Power System Analysis Software Package (PSASP) by the author's team. Because of its strong ability of steady, transient and full dynamic simulation and support for a variety of training mode, PSASP/DTS can precisely simulate various kinds of operations and dynamic process of power system, and can be applied in the power system dispatch center and power system training center for training dispatchers or technique staff.In the project of PSASP/DTS, the author designed the software support framework and participated in the completion of the study and development work of PSASP/DTS according to the principle of integration, opening and standardization. In this paper, the requirements, key supporting techniques, design concepts, software framework and programming of PSASP/DTS are illustrated in detail. The deployment and application of PSASP/DTS in power system training center of Fujian province is also described in detail. At the end of the paper, the further research topics and technique prospects of Power System Dynamic Training and Simulating System are studied.
