The influence of wave was indirectly considered in order to enhance ship stability in still water. However, though ship navigation performance is high in still water, it is not necessarily fine in waves. For some ships of having bad stability, it always means property loss and casualties.Of various influences to ship performance in waves, the main is to security. Ship navigation performance is attracting people's attention more and more because ships frequently navigate in mighty turbulent sea in fact.On the seventh international stability conference, many captains proposed that more than eighty to ninety percents of ship stability accidents is caused by human at present and the main reason of human error accident is marine navigators'low knowledge of the changing ship stability in waves.Many capsizing accidents indicated that ships easily capsized in following sea and quartering sea and people begin to pain attention to ship stability in waves for so many accidents.Research of ship stability in waves can provide good conditions for ship secure navigation, increase security of ship navigation, decrease property loss and casualties.Meantime, it also provides reference for designers.This article is for the purpose of studying the rule of restoring variation in regular waves, analyzing the nearly capsizing reason of one fisheries administration ship of Dalian in waves in accordance with practical engineering project and making a strategic decision of ship navigation in waves.The main contents and conclusions are as follows:An accurater study method of stability when ship rolls in waves is presented. A method of calculate one set or more than one set of intersection between ship and any regular wave is presented base on transform of three coordinate systems.While calculating instantaneous wet surface, the balance between ship weight and buoyancy and the balance of trim are considered. At the same time, one more current method of calculating instantaneous wet surface and centriod of instantaneous wet surface is presented to calculate ship displacement of volume and center of buoyancy. Then based on Froude-Krylov hypothesis righting arm of ship in waves and the rule of restoring variation in waves are obtained.In accordance with practical engineering project this article simulates oceanic condition at the time of one fisheries administration ship to calculate rigthting arm in waves and finds the nearly capsizing reason of stability loss.
