As the pile-type and pile-forming of pile foundation are variety, therefore, to choose what kinds of pile-type and pile-forming becomes a very important issue. With the advantages of simple construction equipment, high bearing capacity and so on, large-diameter artificial excavated belled pile has been used widely.However, due to the complexity of the bearing mechanism, the method of how to determine the bearing capacity of this pile is far from uniform, meanwhile, the study of its bearing mechanism is still not perfect, and the results obtained are also quite different from actual boundary condition. Therefore, it is important to combine practical engineering and field testing to make further analysis about this pile.In this paper, firstly introduces the development overview about pile foundation, reviews the development and application of large-diameter artificial excavated belled pile in home and abroad, and generalizes its technical characteristics and application range. Then makes a systematic introduction about the bearing capacity calculation status and bearing mechanism of large-diameter artificial excavated belled pile. Introduces the characteristics and applicable conditions about commonly used pile type, mainly, introduces the primary mechanism of large-diameter artificial excavated belled pile, the construction process, the preparations, the construction procedure, the safety precautions and appropriate treatment measures.Finally, in combination with practical engineering, it takes the large-diameter artificial excavated belled pile of the gymnasium of Hebi city as an example to discuss pile foundation plan, to demonstrate its reasonable usage in project, to affirm its technical advantages, and to accumulate construction experience.Meanwhile, combines with practical engineering, field test and theoretical analysis to analyze and discuss the bearing and deforming behavior under vertical load, the bearing behavior and its influencing factors. To learn more about the working mechanism of the pile. It can provides certain reference and theoretical basis for the same site or similar sites about pile-type selection, and also for the pile-type associated with the application of engineering.
