EHD air pump technology is a new type of air flow acceleration technology, which uses ions wind generated by corona discharge to accelerate the air flow. It relates to non-equilibrium plasma science, electrodynamics, fluid dynamics and other related theories. In recent years, the applied basic research of ions wind, which has become a branch of non-equilibrium plasma research and the forefront of international research has attracted wide attention from scholars in the world with the further research on Non-equilibrium Plasma .Ionic Wind technology has been applied to air propulsion, solid-fluid boundary layer modification ,cooling, electro- acoustics, particulate removal ,dehumidification and other areas .It has become a hot issue in international research that how to achieve the acceleration of the ion wind as a air convection unit,because problem of the current ion wind generating devices airflow rate is small and low efficiency.This paper conducts a more in-depth overview of ion wind research history and current situation in the world,summarizes the main results and exist problems of ion wind. On this basis,a theoretical model of high flow ions wind accelerator-- the EHD air pump is presented by applying electrodynamics, fluid dynamics and other related theories. The polar angle between the discharge optimization model, multi-polar air pump plate EHD model ,a brief analysis on multi-physics coupling and simulate multi-physics simulation analysis with the help of COMSOL Multiphsysics are introduced and a more satisfactory results are reached.A large flow of air flow acceleration device-EHD air pump is presented in this paper. The feasibility of EHD air pump on air flow acceleration is proved by theoretical analysis of multi-physics modeling and numerical simulation. It can be used as air convection unit.
