Benzene and its homologue, acyl chloride, bromoalkane were used as the raw materials, and by means of molecular designing, twenty-two of alkyl aryl sulfonate isomers were synthesized through the following steps, involving the Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction, Grignard reaction, and H2 reduction(Pd/C). The products were separated and purified by the thin-layer chromatography and silica gel column chromatography, and the content of surfactant in the products were all over 95% determined by two-phase titration.Using liquid paraffin wax as oils, the effects of emulsifier concentration, length of carbonic chain, structure and location of aryl group in carbonic chain to emulsion stability were observed by water diversion method. The research were found: emulsion stability was added with the increasing of emulsifier concentration, when the concentration was best, the stability was constant after decreased slightly, emulsion stability was added linearly with the increasing of length of carbonic chain, with the aryl group shifting from the terminal to center of carbonic chain, emulsion stability was increased, the emulsion stability was best when two methyls of benzene ring were para-position, worse when meta-position, worst when ortho-position; the emulsion stability was added with structure of aromatic ring became more complex. The HLB value of alkyl aryl sulfonates were observed by emulsion process, and the effects of location of aryl group in carbonic chain, location of methyls in benzene ring, number of carbon atom to emulsion stability were observed. The research were found: with the aryl group shifting from the terminal to the center of carbonic chain, the HLB value was increased linearly, and after calculated the factor of influence was 0.0057 (algebraic value); the effect of location of methyl in benzene ring to HLB value was made no difference. the HLB value was reduced linearly with increasing of carbon atom in benzene ring, and after calculated the factor of influence was 0.4734 (algebraic value); the HLB value was reduced linearly with increasing of length of carbonic chain, and after calculated the factor of influence was 0.4752 (algebraic value).Using the crude oils and these fractions from Oil Production Department of Daqing Oilfield, and alkane as oil phase, the effects of molecular weight and its distribution of alkyl aryl sulfonate to emulsion stability were dicussed. Using the alkane as oil phase, emulsion stability was added with increasing molecular weight of oil phase, and the molecular weight of emulsifier was increased which could be stable emulsion; using the crude oils from Oil Production Department of Daqing Oilfield, emulsion stability was added with increasing molecular weight of emulsifier; using the crude oil fractions as oil phase, emulsion stability was added with the crude oil fractions became more complex, and the molecular weight of emulsifier was increased which could be stable emulsion; when molecular weight of alkyl aryl sulfonate were the anti-normal distribution and the increasing distribution, the stability of formed emulsion were the best, worse when the uniform distribution, worst when the reducing distribution and the normal distribution.
