Due to the enhancement of environmental consciousness, waterborne coating has gained much attention to the modern coating industry. The use of waterborne coatings has made it possible to control pollution, reduce risks of fire and improve the health and safety. In this paper, the chain of triethylenetetramine molecular linked the epoxy group and hydroxyl is modified to hydrophilic and pro-oil emulsion-type waterborne curing agent which both with emulsification and curing properties. The size of emulsified epoxy resin particle is about 320nm by using laser particle size analyzer. To make the best emulsifying of curing properties, HLB is adjusted by using blocking agent.In order to improve the emulsion stability and film property, the high molecular weight ionic emulsifiers which match the molecular structure of epoxy resin were synthesized by PEG modified epoxy resin with diethanolamine. Emulsification ability is tested by using different salt types. Bromoethane can be used to quaternary ammonium salt. Acetic acid with PH≈6.0 can synthesize to get quaternary ammonium salts of ionic surfactant. The stable waterborne epoxy resin emulsion was prepared by the phase inversion technique with high-speed dispersion. The emulsion particle size distribution is about 200nm.Finally, Water-based epoxy coatings were obtained by using the water-based emulsion made in lab and emulsified waterborne epoxy curing agent. Two components of curing properties were discussed in detail, the curing system has better income coating film properties, In waterborne epoxy firming agent: quality of emulsion=1:3.5 get best performance of coating film. Coating film performance tests show that the surface drying time is about 3 hours. The hardness of the film reaches 4H, the stability value 4 days after coating. Meanwhile, the adhesion of the film reaches rank 1 and the Corrosion resistance reaches to 3 days. Transparence of the film is satisfied. Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observed the morphology of the solidified film. Finally the curing behavior influencing factors were analyzed and summarized of the waterborne epoxy coating system.The film-making process and mechanisms were proposed. |
