This article relied on Key Projects in the National Science & Technology Pillar Program in the Eleventh Five-year Plan Period "Development and Research of Key Technology for Complicated and Rich Water Deposit Mining"(2006BAB02A01). According to the engineering condition of 8# ore body in Huize Lead & Zinc mine of Yunnan Chihong Lead & Ge Co., LTD., and integrating research methods of engineering geological survey, theory analysis, numerical simulation and on site monitoring based on rock mass mechanics theory, the supporting effect of the hydraulic props on the stope when mining the fractured unstable ore body in Huize Lead & Zinc mine was studied. This study accomplished works as follows:1) According to the currently technical and equipment level and the occurrence conditions of 8#,1#o ore body, two stope-tests has been done about the upward horizontal slice stoping method using Hydraulic props roof supporting technology. Through the analysis on the monitoring related data of the support and the roof during the experiments, supporting effect of the Hydraulic props on the roof in metal mine has been revealed.2) The related equipments using in Huize Zine mine at present were summarized, According to the matters came about during the actual use of the Hydraulic props, optimized and improved measures have been put forward, this could been a reference for Huize Zine mine and other metal mines.3) The excavation and supported process of stope were simulated by numerical simulation using FLAC3D software. Based on the combination of the simulation results and the actual monitoring date, the characteristics and the effect mechanism during its use process were analyzed further. The parameter design of the hydraulic props using in Huize Zine mine was solved through the discussion of the reasonable supporting parameter.4) Through the systematic summarization on the use of hydraulic props roof supporting in high in-situ stress and extreme fractured steep medium thick ore body, and the integration of the present use situation of the hydraulic props in metal mine, feasibility analysis has been done on the assumption that the hydraulic props were employed by more metal mine as supporting system.
