Corrugated boxes have characteristics of lightweight,compression resistance, shock-proof, easy processing, and are both economic and environment-friendly,so they are increasingly used in the packaging industry. This also has greatly promoted the market demand for high-performance NC corrugated paper printing & die-cutting equipment.To improve the efficiency of transforming traditional corrugated printing & die-cutting equipment to digital one,designing and developping a digital design and manufacturing platform of printing and die cutting equipment has become an important issue.The research in this paper's for constructing a CAD/CAM system of printing unit in printing & die-cutting machine is a sub-topic of this issue.In this paper, the development of printing & die-cutting machine printing unit CAD/CAM system is baced on UG platform with its powerful UG/OPEN secondary development tools, combined with ACCESS database management systems and ODBC interface technology, and completed under VC ++ 6.0 environment.This system consists of two modules: CAD and CAM, the CAD module has achieved the parametric modeling of various parts and the parametric assembling of the entire printing unit; the CAM module has completed generating the NC code and digitalized processing of the various components of the printing unit; the CAD module and the CAM module are integrated through establishing the geometric parameters database and processing parameters database of the various parts.The method of designing the system is that using UG/OPEN Menuscript language to customize system menu, applying UG / OPEN UIStyler tools to create user interactive interface, utilizing UG / OPEN API to control the user interface; the digital modeling of various parts is achieved by passing the design parameters in the user interface to the parametric model prepared by UG / OPEN GRIP; the manufacture NC code of various parts is generated through transferring the process parameters in the user interface to the processing program.Finally, the CAD/CAM system has completed the example of the parametric modeling of printing roller, planetary gears, wallboard etc. and the parametric assembling of the printing unit; achieved the digital processing of wallboard etc.Practice has proved, the printing & die-cutting machine printing unit CAD/CAM system studied in this paper printing is running well and also has a certain practicality.
