China became the world's largest exporting country in 2009. The Large-scale export trade has become one of the core powers to promote China's economic growth. However, meantime when it creates economic value and employment opportunities for China, export trade also leads to a large amount of energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Under the double pressure of global warming, the scarcity of and pollution caused by fossil energy, the world is paying more and more attention to carbon emissions. A transformation to low-carbon economy is an inevitable trend. China is facing increasing pressure on emissions reduction. In this paper, the author has selected 20 major industries of China and quantitatively analyzed the energy consumption and carbon emission during their export trades. Based on the analysis draws the following conclusion:Inter-countries trade can lead to the increase of energy consumption and carbon emissions. Due to the increase of export trade, China has a notable increase in greenhouse gas emission. On the other hand, the Western consumption demands have promoted the carbon emissions growth of China. In 2008 only, over 7 hundred million tons of CO2 have been produced during export trades of the 20 major industries. Developed countries as the goods of consumer should be responsible for carbon emissions caused by their consumption.
