This paper introduces the development situation of the involutes gear tooth shape and tooth traces involutes gear, and the processing of the general cutting method of cylindrical gear. Analyzed the existed problems of the cutting method of involutes cylindrical gears in current; for these problems, the article puts forward a new cutting method of involutes cylindrical gears. This article studies the cutting method from the original theory of the form of tooth surface, establishes and explains the concept of gear cutting of the tracing line, and elaborates the theory of involutes cylindrical gear cutting on the tracing line. The formation of tooth surface of involutes cylindrical gear can be seen as composite motion, which contains the rotary motion of the base cylinder and translational motion of a line in the plane; this plane is pure rolling relative to base cylinder. Used this line as the cutting edge, the plane as the basal plane of cutting edge, and made the basal plane and the base cylinder are relatively pure rolling with the relationship:v= Rbω; at the same time, the line of cutting edge is parallel shift along the base cylindrical axis with a space; so can cut the involutes tooth surface. Based on the analysis of the cutting movement relationship and the principle of the worm drive on tracing line, this paper raises the configuration principle and structure of the precision gear hob based on cutting gear on tracing line. The hob which made in this way has many advantages, such as configuration is simple, the manufacture,heavy grinding and use are easy, the configuration has no errors, the cutting edge is a continuous spiral, no impact in the cutting. What's more, carrying out the cutting tests on the theory of involutes cylindrical cutting gear on tracing line.Theory and experiment certificated the cylindrical gear cutting on the tracing line is correct, possible and effective. This method has many advantages, such as the simple design of the tool structure, the small error of cutting the formation of a new vice-drive and so on;Cylindrical gear cutting on tracing line hasn't error of theory, and is efficient and precision. It offers a new way for gear cutting and gives an innovation new idea for the design of the gear tool, machine tool and drive relationship. It has broad prospects for its applications.
