Research Of Quilting's Standard Production And Design

Internationally, quilting, known as the classic art, is very popular. Quilting was first popular in Europe and then spread to the United States, and at last carried forward to Japan, Korea and Tai Wan (China). In China, it is still in the early stage; however, it develops very fast, and is accepted by more and more people. Now the quilting, including the process of design and production, mostly is accomplished by hand, besides there are no standards for that. As a result, some problems show up, for example the high production cost, low efficiency issues and so on, and this slows down the quilting industry. To solve these problems, the standards of patchwork pattern and production were set by investing some quilting studio and referring the knowledge of fashion. In addition of the standards, quilting design software was developed, using C# as the develop language, Visual Studio as the tool, and the object-oriented as the design philosophy. All of these can make the process of design and production rely less on the experience. The conclusions and innovation points are as follows:(1) Set the pattern standards.The pattern is in the key position in the manufacturing process. However, now there are no such rules in quilting. The pattern standards, for example how to name the square and how to mark the pattern symbol, were setting in this paper in order to help to communicate between designers and producers.(2) Enact the production standards.In this part, in order to make the production process manage staff get rid of relying on the experience, and also put the scientific approaches into production management, meaning to let the chart replace the experience, production process diagrams was created and besides that, the process form and operation code were designed.(3) Develop the design software.Most of the time, quilting was designed by hand, and this result long design period and the high cost, furthermore, the progress of patchwork was slowed down. However, using quilting software, design can become automation, visualization and simplification.Setting these standards and developing the software make the manufacture and design process automation, visualization and simplification instead of depending on experience, and then promotes the development of the quilting industry.
