Land resources is the material base for human beings'survival and development, is the most important elements of natural resources and environment, human society can not develop without the use and reform of land resources. With the increase of population and economic development, the more extent of development and utilization we take on the land resources, the more serious ecological security of land resources problems of land resources we need to face. As one important aspect of ecological security, ecological security of land resources become the frontier of research subjects about sustainable use of land resources.Based on the analysis of Changde City's condition,this paper adopted the method of System Analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process and established the ecological security evaluation index system of land resources in Changde City which was suitable to the local land resources, including three subsystems:land natural resources, economy of land resources and society of land resources, and 24 indicators. The paper used the Composite index method to evaluate ecological security of land resources in Changde City. The results showed that:from 2003 to 2007, the integrated ecological security values in Changde City were remained between 0.7565 and 0.7595, status of ecological security were good, warning status were relatively safe. The integrated ecological security values of Wuling District and Anxiang County were respcetively:0.5225,0.5261,which were the lowest among Changde City's districts and counties, status of ecological security were sensitive. The values in the left seven counties were between 0.69 and 0.80, which were in good status, warning status were relatively safe. The research results indicated that:higher forest cover, lower proportion of soil erosion area and lower arable land pressure index were the main driving forces of ecological security, of land resources in Changde City; lower proportion of grassland,higer application rate of-pesticide and fertilizer were the main constraints of ecological security of land resources in Changde City. Finally, this paper put forward purposefully the countermeasures and suggestions to protect the ecological security of land resources in Changde City.
