The American futurologist Alvin Toffler thought 21 century would be a consumer-culture century. With the development of economy and the raise communication among different countries, the consumer-culture, as a living ideal and a consumer style, is increasingly infiltrating into people's daily life, turning into a significant characterization, and impacting more and more people's living. As for the deepening of this influence, it affects the foundation of daily life - consumer goods, finally affects the product design's development trend.This essay is about a brand new research of the relationship between consumer-culture and product design. It mainly investigates how the consumer-culture influencing product design in Chinese cities. Furthermore, it discusses how should furniture's design face the development by using the fast-moving consumer-culture in nowadays cities as a breakthrough point.First of all, the essay clarifies the related elements and development history about consumer-culture, then analyzes the effect and the meaning of how each constituent element affects product design together with the special function of design showed in consumer-culture as an important method, to supply a gap in theories. Secondly, by means of analyzing fast-moving consumer-culture in cities, it shows a picture of consumers needing more short-term consumption and more service consumption, and proposes an opinion that furniture consumption should use more service mode to satisfy customers. This service mode can be realized by tenancy according to analyzing successful cases and development in today's tenancy industry.The latter part studies design approach, principle, and idea of furniture products under tenancy system by view of tenancy.Last but not least, the essay shows a design which meets fast-moving consumer-culture.
