With the improvement of our country housing conditions and the change of people's consumptive notion, teen-age furniture has obtained a huge success in recent years as a new branch of furniture industry. However, as the same with all fast developed thing, our country's teen-age furniture also has many insufficiencies in the development, especially in the field of design. This article embarks from the teen-age furniture's design requirements, discusses the design rule and the concrete direction.First, this article takes the present situation of teen-age furniture's development in our country as a breakthrough point, studies teen-age development characteristic in bodily shape, the physique, energy, the intelligence and the cognitive capacity; proposes the teen-age furniture design's request:the use function, security and health, interest and the illumination, comfort and facility, fashion and novelty, as well as the growth potential.Next, this paper extracts three terms from furniture design's many essential factors which are the most effective to the teen-age furniture:the shape, the color, the function, and analyzes their design principle and method one by one; Proposes three compositive method of the teen-age furniture's modelling design:three-dimensional composing, simulation and biological modelling, cartoonizing design, and explain the formation principle to the modeling, such as proportion and measure, unification and diversification, equilibrium and stabilization, simulation and bionics, rhythm, the use of illusion; analyzes the teen-age furniture's functional request, pointed out that the teen-age furniture should consider on fitting the young people's room, fitting the functional district of room, saving space, conforming to the human body engineering, as well as multi-purpose, and proposes the corresponding solution; Through the market survey, the author considers the visual characteristic and the psychologic effect of each kind of color, summarizes the teen-age furniture commonly used color. Afterward, according to the research of the essential design factors and the teen-age furniture's characteristic in the article, proposes three concrete design ideas: subject design, standardization and modular design, partial decoration design, then carries on the brief explanation to these design methods.Finally, the author has enumerated today's more successful teen-age furniture products:"IKEA", "FLEXA", "Color 7 Live" and "Mokki", and demonstrate the application of each kind of essential design factor and the design method in the teen-age furniture's through analyzing the design practice.
