Agitating is a basic link in processing industry. It is necessary to improve the automation and intelligence of agitating device to increase the agitating efficiency. In order to solve current problems existing in the agitating experiment platform in china currently, this paper emphasized the needs of the design of the platform, and completed the main tasks as follows:At first, a unique mechanism of agitating device was designed which was composed of one transition and two agitated tanks. Solidworks was used in 3D drawing. Secondary developing for some parts of the agitating device had been done by using Visual Basic software and SolidWorks API to parameterize the design of parts, shorten products development time and improve products design quality.Secondly, the control system of this agitating device was designed. According to the two-stage control solution, the system is made up of computer installed software of MCGS and PLC (Siemens S7-200). The system monitored and controlled the agitating device real-time through the exchange of data between PC and PLC to make sure the data is accurate and real-time, and the result of agitating process is efficient and in a high quality. In the end, four types of impeller were designed and used in mixing characteristics experiments based on the above agitating platform. Comparing with the simulation result of FLUENT, it was shown that the mixing result was the best one when use Large-double-blade. Orthogonal experiment was designed to research the influence of speed, impeller type and medium glutinosity. As a result, the optimum experiment parameters were obtained, which demonstrated the correctness, practicability and practicality of the design. This research will provide technology support in the future for mixing characteristics experiment and industrial amplification designs.
