This study deals with two factors, population aging and regional disparities, which are heated discussed recently. Both Korea and Chinese governments are regarding the population aging and regional inequalities as serious social issues. This study analyzes two hypotheses which are the impact of population aging on economic growth and whether population aging affects to regional disparities in Korea and China. The analysis uses growth model and linear-regression model. The first hypothesis uses four factors which are R&D expenditure growth rate, capital formation growth rate, labor growth rate which is divided by working population growth rate and population aged 65 years old and over growth rate and GDP growth rate with yearly time series data in Korea and China and anticipates GDP growth rate by using population projection during next decades. The second hypothesis uses two factors which are income inequality which is a representative factor of regional disparity and population aging which is increased gradually when a society becomes to aging on 16 provinces in Korea and 31 provinces in China and analyzes the relationship of each factor. The results of the analysis demonstrate that there is a statistically significant and negative relationship between population aging and economic growth and positive relationship between population aging and regional disparities in two countries.
