Many countries in the word have already put the wig as a fashion, so that the international market demand for hair products is making the increase at an annual rate of more than 20%. Africa is potentially the largest consumer market for the demand of hair products all over the world, because African black's hair is not only fine and crimp, but also close to the scalp, and combing and styling are not very convenient. Therefore, certain requirements for combing property of the wig are put forward. Moreover,the fashionability and comfort for combing property of the wig are the common request for all consumer groups, thus as a quality control inspection of the items, the combing property of the wig had been written into the Standard DB41/ T 257-2001 in 2001, but the evaluation instrument and characterization methods for combing property of the wig were not mentioned in this standard.Commenced on the design for the evaluation instruments of combing property of the wig, and used four kinds of wig materials including the polyamide (PA), polyester (PET), collagen / PAN composite fibers and human hair as the test samples, the issue respectively studied their basic tensile mechanical properties, friction properties of single fiber, as well as easy-combing and combing-resistant properties of fiber bundle. The model of relationship between friction and velocity based on delay component caused by elastic deformation was established, and the comprehensive assessment for the functionality( combing properties) of shampoo and conditioner products was also proposed.According to the size parameters of the under fixture of Instron 5565, a fixture with simple installation used for the friction of single-fiber and combing of fiber bundle was designed.It makes the testing work easily simplified, and the test data objective and reliable.The tensile properties of described four kinds of single fibers show that the wet-strength of human hair fibers decreased more significantly (close to 20%), and breaking elongation increased, so human hair are more easily damaged and deformed when combed under wet state. The effects of the scale and cortex on the mechanical strength of human hair were studied, and the bending properties of four kinds of wigs were discussed.Through the self-made simple device, the friction properties for single fiber of wig were studied, and the effects of the friction roller materials, gauge, pre-tension, wrap angles, fiber thickness as well as moving speed on the friction were discussed. The effect of wrap angles was found particularly significant, when wrap angles changed from 30°~ 360°, the friction accelerated transmutation from the 0.362cN ~ 1.94cN. The reasons for the friction differences of single fiber were analyzed according to the SEM images of four kinds of wig materials, and the friction properties of human hair before and after polishing were tested.Through the self-made simple device, the combing properties for fiber bundle of wig were studied, and the effects of the comb materials, tooth profile and pitch, wig materials and thickness, crimp as well as dry and wet state on the combing force were discussed. Moerover, from the angle of statistical analysis, the method of using the average of peak and valley as an expression index to quantify the combing force was proposed.From the microscopic point of view, the contacting forced state between the typical viscoelastic and rigid body was analyzed, the model of relationship between friction and velocity based on delay component caused by elastic deformation was established, and the friction mechanism of horizontal delay component due to the change of velocity was described.According to the size of weight and strength loss, the issue studied the extent of combing-resistant properties of the wig fiber, and discussed the fatigue resistance of the fiber through the elastic recovery with specified elongation. The fitted curve showed that the weight and strength loss rate of the fiber existed Cubic (third model) function correlation after combing, and the elastic recovery and tensile cycles conformed to power function relationship, the correlation coefficient was more than 0.9. Furthermore, the SEM images of human hair tested under different number of combing were analyzed, and the fracture morphologies of human hair under one time and multiple tensility were photographed.Using the test of combing force as an objective assessment, and the 5 points scoring standard of dry and wet hair as the subjective evaluation, the issue made comprehensive evaluation for the easy-combing properties of shampoo and conditioner products.Taking the easy-combing properties of wig as the study theme, this paper made systematic research for the strength and elongation as well as the friction properties of single fiber of common wig, easy-combing and combing-resistant properties of fiber bundle as well as the the functionality ( combing properties) of shampoo and conditioner products.From the design of measurement device to the establishment of test methods and expression indexes, the main line was explicit, and the complete evaluation system was formed. It has guiding significance for further study and the improvement of related standard system.
