Mineral is important natural resources in the development of national economy. Traditional mining method of exploiting and restoration destroyed the ecological environment although it boosted local economy. Taking the iron ore mining area of Zhoutaizi Village of Chengde as an example, this paper mainly focuses on the environmental design of mine area and uses it as a source of reference.The paper includes four parts: the first part is mainly on global environmental problems and the measures to deal with them, summary of the iron ore resources in Hebei province, problems and restoration measures of it; the second part is on the origin of the ecological problems of Zhoutaizi Village, their restoration measures, innovation and the value as an universal example; the third part is mainly on local culture and behavior psychology of villagers of Zhoutaizi Village in order to find the reason why they made great progress in the restoration of ecological environment; the forth part researches on the mining area of Zhoutaizi using knowledge of landscape architecture, and its natural landscape, artificial landscape, and elements of humanity are emphasized.The main method of this paper is investigation and document inquiring. Materials are gathered and analyzed, the causes of problems are investigated, character of ecological environment restoration and harmonious social and economical development of Zhoutaizi mining area is summarized.The main achievement of this paper is the systematic researches on the innovative combination of environmental restoration and the construction of new village in the iron ore mining area of Zhoutaizi Village and a way of green mining is provided.
