Preparation And Characterization Of Rare Earth Ions-doped Oxyfluoride Glass-ceramics

Abstract/Summary:
The Nd-doped transparent oxyfluoride glass-ceramics was produced by melting -crystallization method,and the optinum composition was determined.The crystal phase and the transparency were determined by XRD method and UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer. Major phase of the Ca-Si-Al-F glass-ceramic was CaF2,the crystalline size was about 30~40nm.Correspondingly,the crystallization degree was about 15%.The transparency of the glass-ceramic can get 65%~72%in visible region,70%in near infrared region.After the Nd was doped,the transparency of the glass-ceramic with the size about 40~50nm can get 70%~86%in visible region,85~90%in near infrared region, correspondingly,the crystallization degree was about 18%.The fluorescence spectra was measured under the excitation of 980nm laser.The emission spectrum has three emission bands at 900nm,1060nm and 1330nm.The three emission bands respectively corresponding to the 4F3/2→4I9/2,4F3/2→4I11/2 and 4F3/2→4I13/2 transition,which also proved that the intensity of the fluorescence spectra of the glass-ceramic was stronger that its parents glass.
