Sustainable Development And Innovation Of Environmental Law In China

We are responsible for the earth, the only living environment and common home for mankind, not only for the reason to undertake due obligations for our misconduct towards it but also in order to achieve further development of our society. Environmental Law needs prompt and proper adjustments and updates to actualize its vital role in environment protection; generation of and progress in the theory of sustainable development directs and upholds Environmental Law's work in maintenance of human justice and nature justice and realization of dual-harmony among human society and between human and nature, which is great contribution to the progress of Environmental Law theory. Environmental situation is significantly severe in China while its Environmental Law is rather young and immature, the solution to which is to deepen legal research under the guidance of the theory of sustainable development for establishment and improvement of institutions and mechanisms with respect to it. This article commences with environmental crisis, development of Environmental Law and relationship between Environmental Law and sustainable development, explores the value orientation of sustainable development and Environmental Law as well as affiliation and promotion between them, analyzes status quo of Environmental Legal System in China and speculates countermeasures to it in expectation of contribution to the innovation of Environmental Law in China.
