| Benzimidazoles and their derivatives have wide applications in medicine, textiles, fungicide and many other fileds. They can be used for researching bioactivity by simulating the active site of superoxide dismutase(SOD), carbonic anhydrase hydrolase and acid phosphatase. Some of their metal complexes have activities of disinfection and anticancer, playing an important part in simulation of metalloenzyme. Recent observations suggest that the substituted benzimidazoles and their derivatives possess potential activity with lower toxicities in the chemotherapeutic approach in man. Moreover, benzimidazoles and their derivatives were distinctively studied for their reaction activities and roles as important intermediate in the organic synthesis. So, the synthesis and exploratory development of benzimidazole derivatives are active topics recently.A series of benzimidazoles and their complexes was prepared by author, the ligands and complexes were characterized by UV, IR, NMR, and MS.The main work of this paper is as follows:1. Using o-phenylenediamine and corresponding carboxylic acids as raw material, a series of benzimidazole compounds were synthesized such as 2-methylbenzimidazole, 2-ethylbenzimidazole, 2-chloromethylbenzimidazole, 2-benzimidazole mercaptan sodium, 2-(4-aminophenyl) benzimidazole, 2-aminomethyl benzimidazole; Using o-phenylenediamine and 37% formalin to synthesize 1-hydroxymethyl benzimidazole;2. Using 2-(4-aminophenyl) benzimidazole as initiator, reacting with p-phthalaldehyde, 3-pyridyladehyde, 4-pyridyladehyde and 2-pyridyladehyde to synthesize ligands such as (N, N'E, N, N'E) - N, N' (1, 4 - benzenesub-di- (methyl-1-yl-1-yl) ) di-(1H-benzo[d]imidazole-2-amine)(L1), [4-(1H-benzimidazole-2-yl)-phenyl]-pyridine-3-yl-methylamine(L2), [4-(1H-benzimidazole-2-yl)-phenyl]-pyridine-4-yl-methylamine(L3), [4-(1H-benzimidazole-2-yl)-phenyl]-pyridine-2-yl-methylamine(L4); Using 2-chloromethylbenzimidazole as initiator, reacting with 2-benzimidazole mercaptan sodium and 8-mercaptoquinoline sodium to synthesize ligands such as 2-((1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl) methylthio)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole(L5), 2-[quinoline-8-yl) methylthio]-1H-benzimidazole(L6); Using o-phenylenediamine and iminodiacetic acid to synthesize ligand bis (2-benzimidazolyl methyl) amine (L7);3. Using L3, L5, L6, L7 as ligands, a series of transition metal complexes were synthesized, the crystal structure of L3MnCl2 and L3CdAc2 were characterized;4. The biological activities of ligands such as L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, L6 and L7 and complexes containing benzimidazole group are studied, the regularity of disinfection and anti-bacterial effect are summarized. These conclusions provide very important experimental foundation for benzimidazole group at application and generalization of biology and medicine. |
