In a long time of history, people used to concentrating on the consistent product of high quality woods, and the indirect economic values have been ignored, therefore, the quality of our environment has decreased so much that we have to pay more attention to this problem. Forestry ecosystem management has taken ecological, economic and social profits into consideration, and would maintain the sustainable development of forest. This study introduces ecosystem management into the management of water conservation forest and is trying to establish the model of ecosystem management on water conservation forest. This study has taken the Xiashu Forest Farm of Nanjing Forestry University as the main case, chooses ten indexes which can reflect the water holding capacity of the forest from three levels. After analyzing the main three tree species with Grey Relational Analysis, we find that the water holding capacity is in the order of oak forest >Cunninghamia lanceolata forest >pine forest, therefore, taking the local tree species into consideration, we should choose oak tree and Cunninghamia lanceolata to manage the mixed forest and set oak tree as the object tree species which takes about 75%; Adaptive Management and Ecology-based Harvesting should be one of the main principles of ecosystem management; the funding mechanism should be further improved in order to prevent the water resource conservation forest from the destructive lumbering. This study also analyzes the economic efficiency of the water conservation forest, The sale revenue of lumber is the principal source of direct revenue. The water storage benefit of the Xiashu Forest Farm will increase 291300 yuan per year after the implementation of ecosystem management, therefore, the study on it should be further enhanced in order to create more ecological, economic and social benefits.
