Along with the development of economy and the progress of technology, the domestic and foreign market have more and more high-quality requirements on the cold rolled strip, so that the most urgent task of the cold rolling manufacturer will be how to take measures in the process to improve the quality. Tension & bending type leveler is one kind of key equipment between hot rolling and cold rolling, it takes an important role in the high-speed and efficiency of descaling and the improvement of the profile shape and mechanical property of the strip.In the pickling process, in order to improve the quality of pickling on the surface of hot rolled strip, the tension & bending type leveler is equipped at the entrance of the continuous pickling line, depending on the combined function of the tension roll and straightening & bending roll, the tensile stress exceeds the yield strength a little bit, it makes a local plastic extension to the strip. Basing on the huge difference of property between iron-base material and scaled cladding, using mechanical means to bending the strip repeatedly, after that the iron-base material has some elastic-plastic deformation. because of the scaled cladding doesn't have plastic property and its anti-destruction ability is low, meanwhile it's adhesion ability to iron-base is not high, it will be broken when the inner stress which is caused because the scaled cladding can not match the deformation of the iron-base material is more than its destructive strength. finally it causes different types of flaking of the scaled cladding, so that the scaled cladding and other impurities on the surface could be effectively removed. At the same time it can eliminate the waved edge, waved shape, bending and mild sickle type bending of the strip, also improving the strip's anisotropy, eliminating the yield platform, preventing the form of the slipping line, and eventually obtain the good shape and property of the strip.The continuous tension & bending type leveler is a new technology which is developed and applied a lot in steel rolling field in late 1960s.It is widely used in the steel industry due to a series of advantages such as the strip has good flatness and small inner stress after straightening.At present the tension & bending type leveler used in large state-owned enterprises for pickling and cold rolling production line are mostly imported, domestic enterprise only supply some spare parts. I expect that Erzhong could have the capability to design the tension & bending type leveler for continuous pickling and cold rolling production line independently through this research.In the course of the study of the paper, I will decide components and structure of the tension leveling though research the configuration and application of import PL-TCM and establish the finite element model of the strip straightening process, and to analyze the nonlinear plastic deformation. For the use of design the tension leveling for the future.
