Study Of Zen In Tea Set Design

As a foreign culture into China, Zen Buddhism originated from ancient India initially. From the Tang and Song Dynasties, Zen have penetrated deeply and extensively into Chinese philosophy, ethics, education, history , Literature, arts and customs, and other various aspects of traditional Chinese culture.During the rise time of Zen, Chinese tea culture is also developing rapidly. Down from the Tang and Song dynasties, China's tea production become the collection of Cultural, artistic and functional and become an important component of tea. In the development process of Tea, the Zen attitude as the quintessence of traditional Chinese culture has always been accompanied.This paper begins from the origins of Tea and Zen culture with the history of development of Zen, tea and tea set, recalls the process of development and evolution of the tea set since the Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty, then analysis Zen of tea set of White Porcelain of the Sui and Tang Dynasty, Blue-and-white Porcelain of the Song and Yuan Dynasty and Zisha Teapots of the Ming and Qing Dynasty according to the history of development of Zen culture, and summed up three different levels of how to reflect the taste of Zen so as to point out the significance of Zen in the tea set design. Finally the paper has summed up the multiple significance of Zen in physical, motional and cultural separately from angles of Truth, Good and Beauty.
