The latex foams containing bamboo charcoal stuff were synthesized via intermittent process. The composites exhibited possible applications for their humidity-controlling and adsorbent capability as well as excellent latex foam properties.In this paper, the preparation conditions of composites were mainly discussed and the mechanical properties were determined. The influence of bamboo charcoal on material thermal property was studied by thermo gravimetric analysis; the morphous that the bamboo charcoal on latex foam was observed using scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the mechanical properties of composites degraded with the increasing content of bamboo charcoal but every property parameters could reach the target request.And the thermal property was hardly affected. Besides, the composites possessed network structure of open pore and the bamboo charcoal distributed on frameworks of foams.The humidity-controlling capability of composites was initially investigated. It showed that the humidity-controlling capability was better than that of common latex foam. The adsorption of composites with different contents of bamboo charcoal for formaldehyde and amonia was studied using static adsorptive process .In addition; the state of adsorption was initially explained.The bamboo charcoal was modified by ammonia dipping process. The result showed that the adsorption of modified bamboo charcoals for toluene was not good but the adsorption for phenol was improved.
