With speeding up urbanization process in our country, the municipal solid waste (MSW) and its environmental effect has aroused the widespread interest. Thus many different methods for treatment of MSW such as landfilling, incineration, recycling, anaerobic digestion, composting have come to use. Landfilling is the fundamental treatment method of MSW, and during the landfilling, it will have many environmental effect. For example it will produce landfill gas, the principal constituent is CH4 and CO2, both of them are the important greenhouse gases. The landfill of Municipal solid waste has already become a very important greenhouse gas emissions source. In the process of landfilling, it will also produce massive leachate, which is a kind of waste water that is very difficult to treat, and its COD concentration is very high, also it includes many kinds of heavy metal pollutants, which are harmful to the environment. Therefore landfill gases and leachate producing from the landfill should be treated properly.The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), is one kind of complete management tool, which is mainly used to appraise the entire life cycle environmental effect including raw material excavation, manufacture, consumption , and final disposal., that is, from"the cradle to the grave". The ISO14040 divides the implementation of LCA into four parts: definition of goal and scope, inventory analysis, influence appraisal and final explains. And the inventory analysis is a fundmental part of LCA.This thesis mainly analyzes the inventory of the landfill gases and leachate which producing from QiZiShan landfill. The key point is to solve the key question which is in landfill inventory analysis, such as the composing of the landfill gas and the proportion of CH4 and CO2 in it, as well as how to obtain the output of landfill gas, then finally get the data of landfill gas inventory; Another aspect is to determine the quantity of leachate, and pay attention to the heavy metal problem, we need to determine the density of heavy metal in one year, and finally obtain the data of leachate inventory. We mainly adopted two approaches: the mathematical model calculation and measurement. And finally we obtained a part of the emission inventory of QiZiShan landfill, and those results are compared and analysed. Thus we can quantify the impact of these pollutants to the environment, so we can provides certain basis for the environment decision-making of superintendents.The main goal of this thesis is: through the inventory research of QiZiShan landfill, we preliminary discuss the inventory analysis method of MSW, manifest the application of LCA inventory analysis in the management of MSW landfill.
