Arsenic (As) is one of the five-poisonous-heavy-metal, the overdose of As will cause serious damage to human health as well as eco- environment. China has the strictest As emissions standards, however, the governors still lack the comprehensive understanding of the whole As related industries. They have no idea which process would emit As, and how much is it. So the ill supervision and control of those As emitting units have caused the ceaseless As pollution incidents in China. While, developing the As emissions inventory just can solve all the managing problems mentioned above, because through the comprehensive inventory analysis, the characteristics of As emissions can be identified and the main emission sources can be figured out.So in this research, we were trying to develop the Chinese As emissions inventory. The method of life cycle analysis (LCA) was adopted to identify the general inventory of As in the country level, and 32 emission related industries as well as 136 emission related processes were identified in this inventory. In the mean time, the calculation method of each unit in the inventory was determined. Through the complicated calculation of the 31 provinces in China, the As emissions of China in 2010 can be eventually achieved. The results has shown that the total As emissions of China in the year 2010 was 57.5 metric tonnes, in which 19.8 metric tonnes of As was emitted to the aquatic environment,33.7 metric tonnes of As was emitted to the soil environment, and 4.0 metric tonnes of As was emitted to the atmosphere environment. The agriculture industry (farm drainage and soil sedimentation) has been determined emitted the most As. And spatially, Shandong Province, Hunan Province and Sichuan Province were the top-3 areas that emitted the most As. Besides, we also considered the As leakage possibility from the bad constructed stocking places, where couldn’t meet the environmental standard of safe stocking. So the potential emissions of As was calculated as 40.5 metric tonnes, most of which were leaking from the mining tailing pond and smelting slags stocking area in Hunan Province, Inner Mongolia and Yunnan Province.Base on the results of inventory analysis, we promoted several suggestions listed below:1) Develop the wastes database for the metal mining industry and metallurgical industry2) Revamp the solid wastes stocking plots where couldn’t meet the safe stocking standard.3) Strictly restrict the addition of organic arsenic additives to the livestock’s feeds4) Improve the clearance rate of the household garbage, especially in the rural area.5) Develop the atmosphere standards of As emissions as fast as possible, especially for the metallurgical industry. To sum up, this research has offered reliable scientific foundation and data supports for figuring out the As pollution situation in China, realizing the supervision of the key emission industries, as well as reducing the residents’ health risk of As pollution.
