Schiff base, containing the C N group, has some specialities. Its N atom with several lone pair electrons p and sp2 hybridized orbit is inclined to coordinate with metals and to be ring formation. It seems to be useful to synthesize Schiff base with chemical and biological active. Up to now, researchers in the world have synthesized and characterized many kinds of Schiff base and their metal complexes. The researchers exploited many uses such as medicines, catalyst, material, titrate and simulating biology mechanism. Schiff base containing sulfur and its complexes are given more attention because of their significant antitumor and antibacterial activities.A new ligand, 4-N-(acetylacetone amine)acetophenone thiosemicarbazone (HL, 1), was synthesized by condensation ofр-aminoacetophenone with thiosemicarbazide and acetylacetone. Treatment of HL with zinc acetate and nickel acetate afforded ZnL2 (2) and NiL2·DMF (3). The crystal structures of 1, 2 and 3 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. 2 and 3 have similar structures, in which metal atom is coordinated in adistorted tetrahedral configuration, and Lˉcoordinates to zinc(II) or nickel(II) through the azomethine nitrogen and the thiolato sulfur atom.
